Thank you so much for sharing! What a beautiful child with a beautiful message for us all. Such sage advice from such a young man. Out of the mouths of babes is an understatement.
Having grown up in a military family, I had the blessed experience of growing up in neighborhood that resembled the UN. Running outside through my front door, I could find friends from one of several ethnic and cultural backgrounds…Asian, Hispanic, African American, Yiddish…and more. We all played together under the warmth of the California sun…ate at each other’s homes, slept at each other’s houses, learned about diversity before we even knew the word existed. It about did me in once I became old enough to understand some of the history of man’s inhumanity to man…how we as a people have acted more animalistic than animals. More barbaric than imaginable.
It saddens me to the core to think of some of the things we as a human race have done and said to each other throughout history. I have always clung to the pieces of history that show the overcoming of man’s inhumanity to man. I could only hope to live to see the day when all of the derogatory terms that man has dreamed up for each other are but a piece of history. Until that time, I will choose to speak only that which uplifts another of any race, creed, religion, nationality or origin…and surround myself with others who do the same. I trust I am in good company with you!
